The North Star

I joined up with the team at Permatours to produce a projection-mapped stage for their first ever music, education, and arts festival, It Takes a Village in 2023. Together with Dustin Rosata and Galia Traub, we developed a concept for the Mystic Stage, made the design a reality, and managed end-to-end operations of the stage.

The team set out to create a magical experience in the woods that complemented the natural beauty of the surrounding land, while also coming to life after sunset for the musical programming. Crowning the Mystic Stage was a sculpture designed by me called The North Star, so named because it became a glowing landmark beacon that could be seen at the start of the path to the north end of the festival grounds.

I modeled the installation in SketchUp, fabricated the sculpture, and illuminated it using projection mapping techniques with a combination of Resolume Arena and HeavyM software.
