Every space tells a story. Most of the time, that story is forgettable.  

I change that.

I'm Damien Paul Dong, a Boston-based experiential designer and creative technologist. From interactive exhibits and projection-mapped sculptures to architectural LED installations, I design and build immersive environments for museums, developers, venues, and agencies across the US: including the Boston Children's Museum, Grubhub, and Freeman. My work sits at the intersection of art, technology, and the human experience, and the result is something none of those disciplines can produce alone.

Art carries the idea. It decides what a space should make a person feel, then finds the story that gets them there.

Technology gives the idea a body. Most of what I build cannot be bought, so it gets invented: custom electronics, sensors that read a room, software that turns what they see into light.

People turn the idea into a conversation. The client brings a message, the visitor brings attention, and my work is what passes between them. The click, when that message arrives as the visitor's own discovery.

Put the three together and you get Magic. Magic is the second someone works out that the piece is answering them, that they are the one making it happen, that the piece in front of them is alive and not just sitting there.

I work in light. The kind I am actually after is a face lighting up. The eyes go first. Then the smile, or the wow.

That moment is where the numbers come from. People stop walking, they stay longer, they come back, and they tell somebody. It also does what no business case has a line for: joy, wonder, and play your audience carries out the door with them.
