DRKHRT
DRKHRT: The Duality of Love was a monumental 20-foot steel sculpture that combined fire and light to explore love's transformative power. Created in collaboration with designer/fabricator Matt Bajor (aka UNAUTHORIZED) and supported by The Love Burn festival in Miami, this massive installation merged cutting-edge projection mapping with propane flame effects.
As the projection mapping artist, I transformed Bajor's sculptural vision into a living canvas of light. Working from 3D mockups, I developed custom visuals that reflected the dual nature of love—its capacity for both euphoria and anguish. The audio-reactive projections danced in harmony with the flames, creating an immersive sensory experience that captivated festival audiences.
The technical execution required innovative solutions, including multi-projector convergence to achieve maximum brightness against the competing flame effects, and a sophisticated video control system using Resolume Arena/Wire, HeavyM, and TouchOSC for real-time manipulation. The project also involved training on NFPA 160 safety standards for flame effects, expanding my expertise in large-scale installation safety and operation.
DRKHRT demonstrated the power of interdisciplinary collaboration, seamlessly blending physical sculpture, flame effects, and digital artistry into a singular experience that resonated with thousands of festival-goers. DRKHRT’s reception at Love Burn earned it an honorarium placement at Lakes of Fire festival in Michigan and a return to Love Burn the following year in 2026.
