DRKHRT

DRKHRT: The Duality of Love is a monumental 20-foot steel sculpture that combined fire and light to explore love's transformative power. Developed in collaboration with designer/fabricator Matt Bajor (aka UNAUTHORIZED) and supported by The Love Burn festival in Miami, this massive installation merged cutting-edge projection mapping with propane flame effects.

As the projection mapping artist, I transformed Bajor's sculptural vision into a living canvas of light. Working from 3D mockups, I developed custom visuals that reflected the dual nature of love—its capacity for both euphoria and anguish. The audio-reactive projections danced in harmony with the flames, creating an immersive sensory experience that captivated festival audiences.

The technical execution required innovative solutions, including multi-projector convergence to achieve maximum brightness against the competing flame effects, and a sophisticated video control rig using Resolume Arena/Wire, HeavyM, and TouchOSC for real-time manipulation. The project also involved training on NFPA 160 safety standards for flame effects, expanding my knowledge in large-scale installation safety and operation.

DRKHRT stands as one of the most powerful examples of interdisciplinary collaboration in my practice — blending physical sculpture, flame effects, and digital artistry into a singular experience for thousands of festival-goers. Its reception at Love Burn earned it an honorarium placement at Lakes of Fire in Michigan and a returning art grant for Love Burn in 2026.
